So you think you can live forever, eh? Hang on there. If Covid don't get you, pollution will. Researchers say 1 in 6 deaths worldwide can be attributed to pollution in a new pre-pandemic study published in The Lancet Planetary Health. The report, based on reported global mortality numbers for 2019, says 9 million people die due to pollution globally. India alone saw 2.3 million pollution-linked deaths, with over 1.6 million caused by air pollution. Holding out a silver lining, researchers also said the report only has a conservative death estimate and actual deaths due to pollution are likely to be much higher.
